Formally owned by Graham Berry the company was sold in 2004, and it is now in the capable hands of Fabricator, Fitter/Welder and long time employee, Colin Welch and his son Vincent Welch.
Perhaps best recognised for the Almac 427 SC Cobra replicas, constructed for customers from around the world, the company has a long history of building and contributing to Hotrods and race cars for many New Zealanders and more recently the local Jetsprint boats.
Cars for the successful Harris Family Racing and Hogan/Martin/Rea salt flat roadsters, the record breaking dragster of Tony Marsh, and Craig Brown’s wild 55 Chev drag car, are just a few examples. The recently rebuilt front end dragster of Rodney Bengies has since proven itself and the brand new rear engined dragster of Paul and Michelle Davidson is ready to hit the track.
Graham Berry Race Cars specialises in chassis fabrication and suspension work but is happy to assist customers with everything from a scratch built project to complete cars. Our suspension components are required around the country, and built independent 9 inch diff, for the 427 SC, is also proving successful.
As a NZHRA certified engineer, Colin is up to speed with the latest certification and construction requirements, and also makes sure they’re ‘in the know’ for all other regulations, such as the latest noise emission legislation.
Colin is more than happy to give advice when and where needed, be it one of our replicas or your current project, so feel free to give him a call to discuss any of your ideas or he can always come to you if within the regional area.
